Conservation Grants

The 2008-2009 fiscal year Pope and Young Club Conservation Program budget has been approved at over $111,000.00. Included are Conservation Fund Grants to the following projects in areas of education, pro-wildlife management, research and partnerships:

  • Youth Conservation Education Portal
  • U. S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (Bowhunting Rights Coalition) 
  • Jack Creek Preserve Foundation -  Youth Camps and youth education

  • National Conservation Leadership Institute

With this year’s grants, the Pope and Young Club has given more than $500,000.00 in grants the last six years to worthy projects throughout North America.


How to request consideration for a grant?

Simply submit a written request, along with a brief project description and amount requested to: Pope and Young Club, Conservation Grants, PO Box 548, Chatfield, MN 55923. Questions can be directed to the Club’s headquarters at this address or by calling (507) 867-4144.

Grant Criteria

Conservation Grant proposals are reviewed by the Club’s Conservation Committee and recommendations are made to the Board of Directors for approval. Criteria for review of the proposals includes the following considerations:

  • Does the grant benefit bowhunting and impact the future of bowhunting?
  • Does it enhance the image and elevate awareness of the Pope & Young Club?
  • Does it enhance the image and elevate awareness of the values of bowhunting?
  • Does it reflect the Conservation Program mission statement?
  • What has been the previous performance of the proposal?
  • Does it benefit wildlife and habitat?
  • Is it “national” in scope or “local” in scope?
  • Do we get good “bang for the buck”?
