“The Spirit Lives” print was painted by wildlife artist and P&Y member, Michael Sieve. Michael created a stunning painting that captures bowhunting’s history and spirit. The scene depicts a circa 1961 hunting camp, with the ghosted images of Ishi, Saxton Pope, Art Young, Fred Bear and Glenn St. Charles in the campfire smoke. The constellation, Orion (the Hunter), is seen in the sky.
The 7th edition Record Book is a 904-page volume, and includes 88,139 entries – all entries in the Records Program through January 1, 2011. The book’s editor, member T. J. Conrads, crafted 120 pages of education and entertaining text. Learn how the Club came into being and the history of our namesakes (pioneers Dr. Saxton Pope and Arthur Young). See how our recording system has evolved over time and learn about the development of our Conservation Program and youth programs. A special section of testimonials from numerous Club members relates how their involvement in the Pope and Young Club has shaped their bowhunting ethics, their beliefs in themselves, how its melded friendships and shaped their entire lives.
