The Challenge Is Now!
To say that the challenges that face bowhunters today are great would indeed would be an understatement. Our sport and each of us are being attacked from all sides. These challenges stem from cultural and environmental changes as well as ignorance and misinformation about bowhunting. Today, our precious bowhunting heritage is being threatened as never before. Radical animal rights' groups have a goal to eliminate all hunting, as we know it, by another generation.

The Pope & Young Club Trust Fund
The Pope & Young Trust Fund was established in 1985 to meet such challenges and by providing a stronger financial base for the longterm operation of the Pope & Young Club and its essential programs.

What Is The Trust Fund?
A Trust Fund is a permanent fund that produces investment income. The permanent fund is never touched - only the income can be used except in clearly specified emergency conditions. Typically, a portion of the interest income is reinvested to grow the fund; the balance can be used for Club purposes. Through the Pope & Young Trust Fund, we can ensure a lasting legacy of the Club traditions; record keeping, ethics promotion, and support of selected conservation programs. It is our obligation to future generations to preserve our hunting heritage.

A permanent source of funds for this work must be our legacy! Money that is there...forever.

Aiming For The Future
The Pope & Young Trust Fund was established in 1985 and has grown through donations by members and investment to nearly $200,000. To date, approximately 30% of the members have made contributions; 75% of those donors have done so on an annual basis; some individuals have donated stock/made provisions in their wills, etc. Some members have set up automatic quarterly payments using their credit cards. For those of you that have contributed, the Club is extremely grateful. To those of you that have not participated in the past, we strongly urge you to consider making a contribution now and to also include the Trust Fund in your will with a planned gift.

Goal Setting
A new goal of $500,000 has been established as a target to be achieved by May 2006. With Chronic Wasting Disease and other challenging issues facing bowhunters today, we truly need to support the Trust Fund as never before. The Board and the Finance Committee are commited to this three-year campaign and goal.

If We Don't, Who Will?
Together, we can ensure continuance of the programs that are at the very heart of the Pope & Young Club. This stable financial foundation will permit the Club to say, "Saxton Pope, Art Young...see what your club has accomplished. Your bowhunting legacy will be secure!"

We, the bowhunters of today, are the only ones who can ensure our vital programs and activities do not end with our generation. If we don't, who will?

Contribution Designation
Specific examples of where the interest income may be designated are the Pope & Young Club/St. Charles Musuem, selected conservation programs, operational expenses of the Club, and special programs.

Specifically, the Club actively supports various educational, field research and partnership programs with strong moral and financial backing. In fact, in the past seven years the Conservation Fund has provided more than $480,000 to worthy projects throughout North America. Most recently, the Club has turned its attention to a particularly devastating problem ravaging through a large sector of big-game populations - Chronic Wasting Disease. The Club is dedicated to offering valuable assistance in identifying and resolving this potentially tragic wildlife crisis.

The Club continually strives to foster and nourish bowhunting's rich heritage. The Club accomplishes this by not only advocating and encouraging quality, responsible, fair chase bowhunting, but by also implementing sound natural tesouce conservation practises. The Club and its members are fully dedicated to the perpetuation and wise management of wildlife and related habitats, as well as numerous other activities that benefit wildlife.
