Pope and Young and Wild Sheep Foundation Partners in Conservation
Pope and Young, America’s leading bowhunting conservation organization, is excited to announce a strategic conservation partnership with the Wild Sheep Foundation. The Wild Sheep Foundation purpose is ‘to put and keep wild sheep on the mountain®,’ and like Pope and Young does this through promoting scientific wildlife management, educating the public and youth, and promoting the interests of the hunter.
“We are thrilled to be working with the Wild Sheep Foundation on some vital programs”, stated Jason Rounsaville, Pope and Young Executive Director. “These projects are important for wild sheep and other wildlife, and should provide additional opportunities for bow hunters. It's a true win, win.”
As partners in conservation, Pope and Young and Wild Sheep Foundation will work together on select conservation projects that will benefit both organization’s interests and missions.
“The Wild Sheep Foundation has partnered with Pope and Young on a variety of conservation efforts, for many years”, stated Kevin Hurley, WSF Vice-President for Conservation. “Most recently, Pope and Young stepped up to support a comprehensive water development project on public land in New Mexico, focused efforts to recover California bighorn sheep on the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge in Oregon, and pro-active surveillance and strategic management of respiratory pathogens in multiple bighorn sheep herds in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington”, added Hurley.
“These on-the-ground projects will enhance bighorn sheep populations and habitat, and the Wild Sheep Foundation acknowledges and appreciates this important collaboration with the Pope and Young Club”, added WSF President & CEO Gray N. Thornton, “continuing a long-standing partnership between our two organizations.”
